Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara National Reserve

Your 4-day Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or airport at approximately 7:00 AM.
Depart Nairobi and travel through the spectacular Great Rift Valley. Along the way, enjoy panoramic scenery and views of Mount Longonot, an extinct stratovolcano rising dramatically from the Rift Valley floor.
Continue towards the Maasai Mara National Reserve, arriving around lunchtime. Check in at your lodge or tented camp and enjoy lunch.
After some time to relax, embark on your first Maasai Mara afternoon game drive at approximately 4:00 PM.
Explore the reserve in search of Kenya’s iconic wildlife. You may encounter the Big Five — Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard — as well as large herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, impalas, Maasai giraffes and numerous other African species.

Return to the lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full-Day Maasai Mara Game Drives

Spend a full day exploring the spectacular Maasai Mara National Reserve, with morning and afternoon game drives designed to maximize your wildlife-viewing opportunities.
After breakfast, set out for a morning game drive across the Mara’s grasslands. The reserve is renowned for its exceptional concentration of wildlife, offering opportunities to encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles and many other species.
Return for lunch and some time to relax before heading out again for an afternoon game drive.
The Great Migration
If your safari coincides with the Great Migration season, you may have the opportunity to witness the movement of enormous herds of wildebeest and zebras from Tanzania’s Serengeti into Kenya’s Maasai Mara.
The Great Migration is one of Africa’s most remarkable natural spectacles. Millions of grazing animals move across the ecosystem following seasonal rains and the availability of fresh grass and water. The timing and location of the herds vary from year to year, so migration sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Return to your lodge or camp after the afternoon game drive for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Maasai Mara – Lake Nakuru National Park

Enjoy an early morning game drive in the Maasai Mara, taking advantage of the cooler morning temperatures and increased wildlife activity.
Return to the lodge for breakfast before checking out and departing for Lake Nakuru National Park.
Travel through the scenic Great Rift Valley and arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch and check-in at your lodge or camp.
In the afternoon, embark on a game drive around Lake Nakuru. The park is renowned for its populations of White and Black Rhinos, as well as Rothschild’s Giraffes, Waterbucks, Buffaloes, Zebras and other wildlife.
The lake and surrounding forest also support a wide range of bird species. Depending on the season and lake conditions, you may see flamingoes, pelicans and other waterbirds.

Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Nairobi

Start the final day with breakfast before checking out.

Enjoy a final morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, exploring its diverse habitats and searching for wildlife and bird species. Lake Nakuru is particularly appealing to bird enthusiasts because of the variety of birds found around the lake and its surrounding woodland.
After the game drive, depart Lake Nakuru and travel towards Nairobi, with lunch en route.
Continue to Nairobi and arrive in the early evening. You will be dropped off at your respective hotel or Nairobi airport, marking the end of your 4-day Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru safari.
