Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Your 7-day Samburu, Aberdare, Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi.
Depart Nairobi and travel north towards Samburu National Reserve, crossing the Equator as you journey into the rugged landscapes of northern Kenya.
The approximately 360-kilometre journey takes you through changing scenery, from the fertile central highlands to the dry and dramatic Samburu ecosystem.
Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and check-in. Relax after the journey before heading out on an exciting afternoon game drive.
Explore the reserve in search of its distinctive wildlife, with opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and predators.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full-Day Samburu Safari

Spend a full day exploring Samburu National Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives.
The reserve’s open savannah is traversed by the Ewaso Ng’iro River, an important source of water in this otherwise dry region. The river and its surrounding vegetation attract a variety of wildlife, including elephants, hippos, crocodiles and numerous bird species.
Samburu is especially famous for northern Kenya’s distinctive wildlife. Keep an eye out for Grevy’s Zebras, Reticulated Giraffes, Gerenuks, Beisa Oryx and Somali Ostriches.
You may also encounter lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes and other plains game during your game drives.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Samburu – Aberdare National Park

After breakfast, depart Samburu and travel south towards the Aberdare highlands, covering approximately 220 kilometres.
Arrive in the Aberdare region and enjoy lunch at Outspan Hotel. During lunch, take in the beautiful highland scenery, with views towards Mount Kenya and the Chania River, subject to weather conditions.
After lunch, transfer to the iconic Treetops, a historic tree lodge situated within the Aberdare forest.
The lodge overlooks a waterhole and salt lick, providing opportunities to observe wildlife from the comfort of the lodge. Elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and other animals may visit the waterhole, particularly during periods of increased wildlife activity.

Enjoy dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Aberdare – Lake Nakuru National Park

Enjoy an early morning transfer back to Outspan Hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast, descend from the Aberdare highlands towards the Great Rift Valley and continue to Lake Nakuru.
Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge before setting out for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park.
The park is well known for its rhino conservation efforts and diverse birdlife. Search for White and Black Rhinos, Rothschild’s Giraffes, Buffaloes, Waterbucks, Zebras, Lions and Leopards.
Lake Nakuru also attracts numerous bird species. Flamingo numbers can vary according to lake conditions, water levels and food availability, but the area remains an excellent destination for birdwatching.

Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru and drive towards the spectacular Maasai Mara National Reserve, covering approximately 320 kilometres.
Travel through the scenic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley and surrounding countryside before reaching the Maasai Mara.
Arrive at Keekorok Lodge or your selected accommodation for lunch and check-in.
After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive through the reserve.
The Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife destinations and supports an exceptional concentration of wildlife. Search for lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes and gazelles.
Return to the lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Full-Day Maasai Mara Safari

Start your day with an optional hot-air balloon safari over the Maasai Mara.
Take to the skies at sunrise and enjoy breathtaking views across the Mara’s expansive grasslands. From above, you may see herds of wildlife moving across the plains as the landscape comes alive in the early morning.
After landing, enjoy a special bush breakfast, often accompanied by a celebratory drink, before returning to your lodge.
Alternatively, enjoy an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge.
Spend some time relaxing at the lodge before heading out for an afternoon game drive.
Continue exploring the Mara in search of its abundant wildlife. Depending on the season and location, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes and numerous antelope species.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Maasai Mara – Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before checking out.
Embark on a final morning game drive as you exit the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This provides one last opportunity to photograph wildlife and enjoy the spectacular Mara landscape.
Continue your journey towards Nairobi, with lunch en route depending on your departure schedule.
Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to your respective hotel or airport.
